Located in Northern part of Kenya, Samburu is the home to the famous Samburu National Reserve, The river Ewaso Nyiro and the Buffalo Springs National Reserve. The reserve is rich in wildlife, famous for abundance in rare northern specialist species such as the Grevy Zebra, Somali Ostrich, Reticulated Giraffe, Gerenuk and the Beisa Oryx (Also referred as Samburu Special Five). It is also home to elephants and large predators such as the lion, leopard and cheetah and 450 bird species not forgetting ‘Kamunyak’, the miracle lioness that adopted the baby oryx was also a resident in the reserve.
